Several complaints from the community on massive extortion activities of communist terrorist group operating in the hinterlands of Municipality of Prieto Diaz and Bacon District, Sorsogon City made an intelligence driven Combat operation that resulted in the death of three CTG personalities and the arrest of two. The armed encounter happened at around 6:25 AM of 17 August 2022 in Sitio Pinaglabanan, Brgy. Gatbo, Sorsogon City.

The fatalities were identified as ReneEzperanzate Espano @Anjo, Field 1 (L1), Provincial Committee 3 (KP3), Team Leader of the Revolutionary Tax on the Enemy Type (RBKU), Jaime Fortadez @ Moy, Vice Commanding Officer (VCO), L1, KP3 and Tony @ Amon . The other two arrested suspects were identified as Janine Chavez and Leopoldo Laririt @Ani.

The successful operation was conducted by the combined personnel of PIU, Sorsogon PPO, PTO DIAZ MPS, 1st PMFC, and Sorsogon CPS supported by 31IB, 903rd Bde and 96 MICO under over-all supervision of PCOL ARTURO P BRUAL JR., PD, Sorsogon P.P.O.

The encounter also resulted in the recovery of two (2) 5.56 Baby Armalite rifles, one (1) Cal.9 mm Beretta pistol, nine (9) long and one (1) short fully loaded magazines for 5.56 mm M16 rifles, two ( 2) fully loaded magazines for 9mm pistol Beretta, several bandoliers, personal belongings, medicines, radio and voluminous subversive documents. Said successful combat operation was praised by the barangay officials and the community of said place. They were so grateful for the immediate actions launched by the government forces that will make their community peaceful and free from any illegal activities.
